Discription of item:
The Dark Savant is a Compound Bow, equipped with a Binary Cam setup to reduce stress or detuning during prolonged usage. Its body is made from 7075-T651 Aluminium Alloy, for high tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and high yield strength. It is weakened when used in larger plates, and as such, is ideal to minimize weight without sacrificing strength or durability. Its limbs are made out of a carbon fiber reinforced fiberglass/carbon plate composite, to make draw weight a hefty 185lbs. On average, every pound of limb weight adds about 5MPH to arrow speed. The bow, at full draw, launches arrows at, at 1,488KPH, or 413 Meters per Second. The weight is all stored in the limbs, which means the actual strings are made from HMPE, to resist constant heavy weight release and stress fatigue. In terms of technology, it is well suited for the task. It is equipped with a Link, a type of closed-channel comm system between John’s augmented eye and the bow’s onboard processor where the sight would normally be. The advanced targeting augmetic supplied by Kizu receives information from the processor, which simulates a holographic flight line between the target and the bow, accounting for wind speed, projectile weight, arrow drop, and distance, directly onto John’s HUD. The Night Vision on John’s augmented eye can be used to assist the camera on the onboard processor, allowing for skillful attacks in all conditions. The second most useful aspect of the bow is its ability to fold. A series of interlocking magnetic clamps are used when unfolded to keep it from bending or falling apart, and with a thought from his Link, can be undone to refold the bow.
Ammo: John prefers to use mechanical broadheads, which unfold during impact, to pierce kevlar armor, due to its slicing motion. The arrowheads are made from depleted uranium, painted with a lead based lacquer to suppress radiation signatures and to keep low visibility. The shaft is a black polymer casing wrapped around a dense tungsten core, giving sufficient driving power and weight in the arrow to break bone, shatter helmets, or the joints in armor. The fleteching is made from fiberglass composites, so as to retain flight path even in high speeds. Their notches are made from a simple plastic, hardy to resist repeated use, but light. The arrows are finished with a dull varnish, so as to pass through dense smog, rainy conditions, or fog, without reducing speed.
Lore on how you obtained the item:
In the past, before John left Earth, he was a hitman. He excelled, due to his metal arm, at the usage of a Bow. He upgraded from one to another, until he ended with the first Dark Savant. It was his calling card, a single, black-shafted arrow buried in the neck of a well protected gang leader or contract killer. He used it well, and often, honing himself to the degree of a master archer. Running, sliding, even jumping from ledge to ledge, his Dark Savant rarely failed to find its mark. At the longest distances or the confines of a hallway, he wadded through bodies. However, after an unfortunate incident with a female android, he was forced to leave it behind, due to a mix between customs enforcement and it being used to identify him. Rather than let someone else find it, he threw it into the intake of a ship’s atmospheric thrusters before leaving for Kepler. He never looked back, because there was no going back. Now, well funded and ready, he prepares to have a second version of the weapon made, with changes due to his recent augmetic upgrades. Due to having better arm strength, he designs it with a stronger draw weight, and with an improved processor to facilitate more impressive shots.
He heard from a little drunk birdie down in the slums that one large while automaton was in the business of selling exotic weapons, and went to a nearby fight club. There, he slipped a wad of credits to the barkeep, and received a series of possible locations where CH4MB3RS -along with learning his name- could be found. He proceeded to scout out the two locations, with his partner, an automaton named Collossus. John struck out, and watched the Auto he was waiting for enter the Cantina at Otoh Epsa. To avoid looking suspicious, he waited for some time before entering, before engaging in discussion with the giant himself. After a short exchange, the deal was struck.
