Or "How it all started"

Catching you up to speed (90 years in less than 5 mins)

The Year is 2109. You enter the Kepler System. You start your adventure either in Eizveen on Kuiper, or on Salvus.

Eizveen once a war town city from a terrorist faction turned shining refuge for many of the survivors from the Omni-Kep War of 2108. Many of them from District One, a MegaCity with a Militaristic Police, Gangs owning Apartment blocks, and constant oppression. There was not a place to be safe within the city because of advancements in hacking and netrunning, not even the top executives of MegaCorps in their ivory tower were safe. Now you must find your niche, and hold it close. Who do you want to play? The white knight detective, a new kingpin or corrupt corpo lackey trying to make it to the top? You might even want to finally find someone to settle down and have a family with or be an up-and-coming politician.

Just remember the world is a dark one out there... Lastly, welcome to the Frontier.

Lore // YEAR 2109

Our adventure takes place in a far away exoplanetary system in the constellation Cyngus, or more commonly known as the Frontier. This exoplanetary system is roughly 500 light-years from Earth.

THE Setting

After years of neglect, Earth could no longer support humanity. Mankind must seek to colonize the stars if it wants to prolong its existence. To do so, Mankind must develop the necessary technology.

Faced with an existential crisis if Mankind did nothing, it launched the age known as Humanity Plus, an ushered in era of space colonization and technological entrepreurial renaissance.

Earthly nations saw an exponential increase in scientific funding, space manufacturing gripped each nation. Resources were collectively pooled to harvest lunar and asteroidal material for the nearsolar colonizational efforts.

Many years went by in this period of exponential technological & manufactural development. It appeared as if mankind was finally ready to leap off its birthplace and so Mankind seized the opportunity.

Mars was the target for the first colonization effort by the new unified Earth Government; and the once indomitable mission was an exorbitant success and huge strategic victory for Mankind. Mars quickly established many expansive manufacturing-based cities in short time due to the huge wealth of resources available underneath the red soil. This paved the way for further colonization missions for Man.

Leapfrogging off Mars, extra-solar colonization was a possibility within grasp of Mankind. Brave men and women from Earth and Mars signed up to be one of the first colonists out of our solar system. On November 26th 2034 (Earth-Date) EGS Colburn set off for the Kepler system but after a year of constant radio communications with the ship, they went taciturn and eventually deep-space communications were lost. Panic struck Mankind, and a desperate attempt at reconnecting with the ship was made - but no success was had.

This was a shocking failure for Man, one of the first of this magnitude. After mourning of the lost of the brave colonists and crew, humanity kick started back into gear and without hesitation planned to send off another brave group of colonists - again, to the Kepler system, the only known habitable system within reach.

Many people volunteered, knowing full well, this expedition could end in a 50/50 chance of certain lonely death in a deep space abyss, far, far from home or the glory of being the first extrasolar humans. Eventually, the crew and colonists of this new expedition set off on the EGS York.

The mistakes and deficiencies from the Colburn were fixed and rectified. EGS York was one of the most advanced creations Man has put forth on this astral plane to date. Recent breakthroughs in faster-than-light (FTL) technology allowed the York to reach Kepler in faster time. Technological breakthroughs in space aeronautical engineering ensured the York was one of the safest ships to date.

Hope in human spirit was high. Kepler may very well be a new cradle for Man.

6 months after the launch of the EGS York, the colonists were able to make it to the Kepler system safely. Images of the new world were shown across Lunar, Martian and Earth cities back home. The human spirit was soaring at this point.

Mars and Earth rolled out more ships like the York. Trade routes with Kepler was established and soon enough, the first cities were constructed. Cooperation between Earth, Mars and Neo Terra was solidified under the establishment of the Extrasolar Colonization Authority. This was a great time for Mankind - and soon, It would only get better.

With the success of the Kepler mission, Mankind rapidly stepped up the number of colonies in various systems - Algol, Kepler, Beta Cephei, Hydrae, Aquarii. These are only some of the systems that are longer devoid of life, as Man has called them home.

Then, unexpectedly, seemingly unprovoked, colonies in the the Aquarii system launched an insurrection against the ruling colonial administration. This was the start of the first interstellar war. The EG dispatched marines to the rebelling colonies and fighting only got fiercer and bloodier from that point on. At the end of the war, the death tolls were upwards 13 billion. This was regarded as the most devastating event in recent Human history.

Shortly after the war, an era of relative peace proceeded. Although there is still looming animosity between the Aquarii people and the EG, both parties have continually strived to maintain the peace, as everyone realized only too well the outcome of a massive interstellar war.

And from here is where you enter. A period of expanding interstellar tourism and trade. The post-war economic boom. The second golden age of capitalism.

The IMC

The Interstellar Mining Corporation was founded shortly after humanity achieved space-travel.  It was responsible for a lot of the resource gathering that lead to the construction of Mars’ cities and the space stations around Saturn.  Eventually, it was one of the biggest resource contractors in the Sol system.

With money and resources, the IMC expanded their horizons to research and development, as well as creating their own private military, which was known simply as the IMC Marine Corps (IMC-MC).  These areas slowly swelled as the IMC expanded it’s reach throughout the galaxy.

Then the match hit the gasoline and the intergalactic war exploded.  This gave the IMC the prime opportunity to grow even more. Signing a contract with EarthGov and some of the smaller colonies, the IMC-MC provided protection for its allies and death for its enemies.  During this time, the IMC became notorious for its cloning policy; they sent soldiers to die over and over with no limit. This resulted in hundreds going clinically insane or becoming vegetated from crippling PTSD, the soldiers seeing so much death and destruction.

The IMC is why intergalactic law states that a person may only be cloned three times.

Post-war, the IMC-MC provided “protection” for the outlying colonies of humanity.  On planets like Kepler it wasn’t so bad, as they tried to remain neutral during the war.  However on enemy planets such as Aquarii, the IMC night as well have been a dictatorship, with soldiers actively beating and harassing citizens.

They now approach Salvus in full stride, aiming to take control of the resource-rich planet.  They will crush anyone who stands in his way, and they will show no mercy to those caught in their wake

Eurasian Federation

The government of the Eurasian Federation is one of many secrets. Formed on the verge of the 2109 year, it puzzles people to the day on who or what funded the creation of this government residing in the shining white city of Eziveen. Its army of yellow-clad soldiers dubbed "Peacekeepers" Protect the surrounding area of Eziveen as well as responding to its own settlement. The Peacekeepers are the second most heavily defined faction in the Kepler System, IMC being the first, and while some of its troops are not the most trained, they work hard and fight harder.

Its Government is broken down into four parts. Its Parliment functioning as the ruling branch. From there it offshoots to 3 Ministries. The Ministry of Justice is the law creating branch, making sure the Peacekeepers help enforce its laws and regulations. The Ministry of Innovation, while slightly new is neck and neck with the IMC in the system for technological advancements. The last Ministry is the Ministry of War, their job is to ensure the safety of its Citizens and settlements. Each Ministry responds to the Parliment and the Parliment makes sure that each Ministry is doing its job.
