Hello!
If you're interested in taking a more scientific approach to the frontier, then you have probably thought about researching technology or medicine or something...researchable. Alternatively, maybe you have thought about getting a degree. The following is a brief explanation of how you go about both researching and learning.
In order to do any kind of research, you first need the proper equipment and facilities. This can be anything from high-tech lab with all the shiny cool toys, to a workbench in your character's backyard. However the quality of your work-space will affect the quality of your research, so be mindful when choosing an area (this too applies to learning). You also need to make sure you have the proper tools/textbooks, otherwise your task will be much harder. The second thing you need is an idea to research or a topic of learning. It is kind of pointless to research and learn if you do not have an end goal. Alternatively, if you have an end goal but you do not know how to get there, talk to a Gamemaster or Helper and they can assist you.
The third step in the process is getting a Gamemaster to watch you initiate the research/learning IRP. They can verify that you did research/learn the thing legitimately. If the thing will take more than just one RP session to finish researching/learning, the GM will give you a completion time on the research/learning. Once you have waited the allotted time, you have another RP session to finish the research/learning.
The process is now complete! You may now start again and research/learn something else if you wish. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, and they will be added to the FAQ for this system.
