FAQ Q: Do I have to use the skill system?
A: Absolutely not! The skill system is entirely optional, however we do recommend you use it, the reason being: everything will be slightly more difficult when it comes to crafting and researching.
Q: How/Where do I start? A: Well, if you haven't read the document, you should go do that. If you have and you are still unclear, there is a format at the bottom of the page: use that as a template to create your character's stat sheet. After you have that, use your 3 regular points to upgrade your base trees, then pick out one ability anywhere in the five trees to unlock with the golden point. From there, every time you level up, you can use the regular point you earn to unlock a skill or another level of your base trees. Keep in mind the different tiers and skills are level locked, and may be inaccessible. Q: What is the difference between Golden and Regular Points? A1: Regular Points are given to you both as a new player and as you level up. These regular points can be used to increase the level of your base stats (strength, perception, etc), or they can be used to unlock skills that you have access to.
A2: Golden Points are given on special occasions and are able to unlock any skill within the five basic trees (if you've unlocked Psionics or Netrunner, then the GP can be used on those as well). Q: How does one gain experience?
A: There are many different ways a character can gain experience. You can gain it through combat, crafting items with your skills, researching, and even building in some rare cases. A GM, normally the one that ran the event from which you gained exp, will give you your exp either at the end of the event or when your action is completed.
