War...war never changes. Not from one century to another, it is always a constant; blood, death, and violence. A wise man once said that there is a period of peace before every war. After the unification of Earth by the EG, humanity experienced a very long, quiet period of peace. This allowed them to develop technology like the FTL drive, and advance science to unlock the capabilities of the mind and body.
All of that development and progress came crashing in on itself in 2050.
As humanity expanded into the stars, the EG set up a colonial administration to control the ever growing colonies. The colonies had little to no representation on earth, and policies were passed that were “for the good of the people”...of Earth. The colonies grew tired of being taxed and abused, and in 2050, the factory world of Aquarii put its foot down and fist in the air.
Aquarii started producing Battlefield Infantry Droids (BIDs) and Battlefield Infantry Operator Droids (BIODs) by the hundreds, then by the thousands. They produced an army ready to fight an intergalactic war over a matter of days, and would continue to do so.
After all the outer colonies either siding with or falling to the Aquarii hordes, and losing several thousand soldiers, the EG realized that drastic measures had to be taken. With a defense contract with the IMC in place, the EG released their cloning research.
What was predicted to be a war lasting only a few years, wound up being a war that lasted decades. The only reason the EG and IMC forces were able to pull through in the end was thanks to a small group of loyalists in the Aquarii system who shut down their deep-space scanners and comms. The EG and IMC forces jumped into the system, and after a solid week of fighting, Aquarii was captured.
The war was over. The year: 2090. The death toll: over thirteen billion- over one hundred and fifty times the death-toll of World War II.
The new bloodiest war in human history was over...and war still hasn’t changed.
