If you are a brand new player, or just an old player who needs a refresher, here are a few rules you should keep in mind as you traverse the Frontier. The Backpack Rule
All items that are in the nine slots of your hotbar are immediately accessible. All other items in your inventory are in your pockets, however, which means that you must spend an extra turn swapping items and gear from your inventory to your hotbar (if you are in roleplay, that is).
Unlimited Lives, Limited Insurance
All players now have unlimited lives! This means you can re-spawn as many times as you want! All thanks to the lovely groups known as Trauma Response Units. These are teams of men and women who have been trained as both medics and soldiers. Then a person goes critical, they respond to evacuate the dying person. Picking a fight with a trauma team is ill-advised- especially when they are on a mission- however, preventing them from retrieving the dying person is the only way to ensure that the person dies. Look on the frontier forums for more information on the TRUs. Another thing to keep in mind: the more you die, the more your TRU bill is going to go up. If you don't use TRU's, then the likelihood of having your cloning rights revoked by NeuralNet skyrocket, especially if you die multiple times in quick succession (three times in a week is a lot). So tread carefully and keep your death-count low, otherwise you might find yourself on your last life.
Always Surrounded, Always in Action
When in a place that would normally be filled with people, such as a city street, then you are surrounded by people. Just because player characters are not there, does not mean that people are not around to watch you perform a misdeed.
You must also remember: you are never not in role-play. Everything you do is an action your character is taking. Chopping a tree for wood for a furnace? That is what your character is doing. Mining with a pickaxe down in the cave? Same deal. The only time you are not IRP is when a GM allows you to be somewhere as an OOC spectator, which is a rare circumstance. The Danger Zone On Salvus, the new planet for the refugee people of Kepler, the cities and towns are safe(ish), but outside the city limits are what are known as “Black Zones”. These zones are where PVP is enabled and everything goes. If you die out there, it does not count against your IRP deaths; however you do lose your stuff. If you wish to stay safe, stay out of the Black Zones.
